The Art of Journaling

Today, Nicholas Wilton of Art2Life, gave me the most amazing idea. We are all in retreat during this pandemic and I’d been pondering a question Nicholas posed to all of us in his Kitchen Table Project…..

What could this time make possible for me?

I had been thinking about making a book out of my mothers art journals to share with other family members but I’ve never made time for it. When I shared my idea Nicholas jumped on it and suggested using a blog making her stories accessible easily for anyone from anywhere!

So here goes….

Her name was Janet Marsh, and these are her art journals. There are 11 volumes of watercolour paintings spanning more 30 years. She paints, draws and writes about her experiences, her dreams and her challenges. Through her pages I am getting to know the mother I loved for who she was as an artist and a person.

In the coming weeks (hopefully not months) as we hunker down, stay home, and stay healthy, I am going to share some of her stories with you….
